I'm not sure where to even start this post given how much is going on from both a business and personal perspective.
On the personal front, we had some huge life milestones - our Daughter got engaged to her now Fiancé, our Son graduated from a highly regarded technical school (advanced diesel technology) and our Son and Daughter-in-Law gave us our first Grandchild. Wow. Overwhelming doesn't even capture it properly. I lost a mentor and good friend of mine who I had fallen out of touch with in recent years. A big dose of regret and sadness that he is gone. We also lost our family pet. She was only 8 years old so it was particularly upsetting. We have since adopted a rescue kitten at 6 months old who is wonderful. So, lots of ups and downs but we're going to focus on the ups! That tees us up for a big wedding in 2026 and the pleasure of watching our 'kids' and their growing families enter a new and exciting year.
OK, onto studio talk!!
In my last post, I mentioned some great media coverage of our grand opening. We're so thankful for the press release that Solid State Logic (SSL) did and all of the resulting coverage in the trade magazines and also our local paper. So many of you reached out to us and so many new people contacted us to follow up on the articles. We booked a couple of recording sessions/projects including one of my NY clients. Our new friend, CJ Lewis from SSL visited us at the studio. It was an awesome hang and a great feeling to be plugged into a great company with great people. Will Flagg and I had a great hang and discussed connecting Timber Canyon Studios to the University of Wyoming Music Industry Studies and Audio Certification programs. Something Marie and I are eager to do to give back to the community and the University.
We're looking forward to our annual trip to SoCal for NAMM. It's coming up in a few short weeks and it's always great to see old and new friends. If you're reading this and will be there, please reach out and let's connect while there!
Now, a word from our sponsor - To my old and new music contacts - please help us spread the word. I want to fill up our studio calendar and am asking for your support. Follow/like us on our social media pages. Let fellow musicians and songwriters know about us and our facility. Repost our various social media posts. Your help is appreciated. -end of commercial-
One of the reasons we decided to build a 'destination' recording studio is that it creates more of a creative space without the noise (figuratively and literally) from the cities or more populated areas. The space is serene with views of mountains and wildlife all around. I could talk about our audio gear, equipment and tech stuff all day long (we've got all of the fun toys and equipment) BUT the space and location really matter. We're just a couple of hour scenic drive from Denver International Airport, 15 minutes from Laramie Regional Airport and less than 10 miles from Interstate 80! Over the weekend, we had ~90 Pronghorns (erroneously referred to as antelope) here on the property. The resident herd is here somewhere every day but this many in one place was remarkable!
That's all for now. Reach out with any questions or if you want to talk audio gear or instruments. Let me know if you'd like to come by to check the place out or to just hang. We're usually around. We will post again after NAMM! - Jim & Marie
