Giving Birth

While there is another grandchild on the way, this blog post is NOT about childbirth. Instead, it's about another kind of birth. One of the most satisfying things about running a recording studio is seeing the whole lifecycle of a music project through from end to end. From pre-production meetings and planning all the way through the production and, eventually, into the universe via streaming platforms, CDs and/or vinyl.

Over the last month or so, several of my clients (who are also now my friends) released some amazing music. Truly talented musicians and human beings. I'm starting to compile a 'Produced @ Timber Canyon Studios' playlist on each of the DSPs. I'll continue to add new music as it becomes available. I encourage you to listen on your platform of choice. The list is quickly growing as recordings we've done over the last many months are nearing completion and being released (born) into the wild.

As many of you know from my seemingly endless and shameless self promotion, I'm in a band called Soul Rash with several of my friends and my brother. What started as a Covid-era remote project with a few friends is now about to release its third album with about an hour of new music. This one is very special. This one started before we built our new place in Wyoming over 3 years ago with some of it recorded in our Colorado home studio. Some of it was recorded in a home we rented during the year we were building our new home. Some of it was recorded at Carriage House Studios in Connecticut and some of it at Carney Audio in New York. My bandmates were very patient while we hit the pause button for almost 2 years while the home was built, the studio was built and completed and we were able to open up Timber Canyon Studios. The work had paid off and, in addition to the wonderful new releases I mentioned above, Soul Rash's new album 'Trilogy' has just been sent to mastering and will be released in July (date TBD). It was a pleasure to host ALL of my bandmates here at Timber Canyon Studios to record and finish this thing. They traveled in from NY, TX and CO at various times between November 2025 and June 2026. I was finally able to use ALL of my audio tools and instruments to complete this one. The music is solid. It's bombastic. It's our take on melodic rock and roll reminiscent of our upbringing but also modern in its own way. There are little tributes to some of our influences throughout including one cover song (we have one cover song on each of the three records we've done as tribute to our musical influences).

Stay tuned for much more. Please help us out promoting this one. Here's a sneak peak at the album cover art. - Until next time - Jim
