After a long and winding multiyear journey, Timber Canyon Studios is officially open for business. The list of people to thank is too long to do here, but you know who you are. The support and interest in our project is overwhelming and is a very important aspect of what we are trying to build.

The construction is 99.9% done leaving only the inevitable punch list of small items that need to be resolved. The acoustics are already great as-is , but we will be calibrating and likely adding additional treatments once we have time to breathe (thanks Sam!)!

We hosted an open house last week for many of the local Laramie musicians, friends, neighbors and more. As a special treat, most of the members of Soul Rash came to town to track vocals and bass guitar. It was a great way to break in the studio with a project so close to my heart. The sounds were great and the hang was greater. Other close friends (and family) came to town as well to really make this a special time. The party was attended by over 60 people and I'm pretty sure everyone had a nice time. We had great catered food (shout out to The Grazing Cowboy!) and cooperative weather.

As if all that wasn't exciting enough Solid State Logic (SSL), one of our key strategic technology partners, issued a press release announcing our studio's "arrival" and the investment we've made in their equipment and technology. SSL has a great team and product line and we are proud to be a small part of their family. Music Connection, Mix Magazine and Pro Sound News have already picked up the story. We are working with other media outlets to continue to spread the word. As mentioned, this has been years in the making and feels great to bring the whole operation to fruition.

At the same time all of this was going on, we (and a good chunk of the planet) were treated to a celestial display from the Aurora Borealis. I stepped outside the studio, put my iPhone on a 3 second exposure and took this shot.

We are blessed with zero light pollution and clean air. It is unreal to be able to step outside the studio on any mostly clear night and see more stars than we ever imagined existed. That, along with seeing the Milky Way, satellites, shooting stars and then occassionally the results of solar storms (above) make it a surreal setting 100% of the time. For those of you reading this that are songwriters, musicians, producers or engineers - THIS is where you want to make your next record. The biggest stress of your day is where the resident herd of North American Pronghorns (aka speed goats) are! Fun Fact - their closest living relatives are the giraffe!

OK, that's almost the end of my update for now. One more thing - Marie and I are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our Granddaughter any day now. You should know that my next update will likely include nothing but pictures and updates regarding her and nothing else! You've been warned.

Please follow and like Timber Canyon Studios on social media and spread the word wherever you can.

Until next time.

Jim
