On the Five Yard Line??

Marie and I just marked one year of living in our new home here in Wyoming. We absolutely love it here and have already had many visitors. We look forward to more! This also marks just about TWO years of construction since we started building the house and the studio structure. We so look forward to being done with construction for a LONG time and possibly forever. Good news - we’re almost there.
Studio construction continues at a good tempo. Even while we were recently out of town, progress continued. The drywall process is almost done. If any of you have ever had any construction going on or renovation work, you know that gypsum particles absolutely get everywhere and on (and in) everything! Our lounge and control room are ready for painting! As I write this, our live room and iso room are being taped which means that, by the end of this week, they will also be ready for painting! This will officially mark the END of the messiest part of construction. Sawdust and paint are nothing compared to the mess the drywall makes.

We recently took delivery of our custom order of studio doors and windows from SoundProof Windows in Reno, NV. We’ve seen them for years at NAMM and they make serious products with amazing sonic performance (which is why so many studios use them of course). Marie and I were sure we would use them. Then, Sam Berkow (acoustician that I’ve mentioned in previous blogs)
also recommended we source from them so, back in Feb, we pulled the trigger and placed the order. They arrived a week ago on three pallets. Each pallet weighs about 1350lbs and the whole shipment was just over 4000lbs! Tractor trailers and forklifts. It was a lot but it got done!

Those pallets are huge (can’t appreciate in the pictures really) and house the double doors entrance from the lounge to the live room, glass slider from live room to control room, door from live room to iso room and door from live room to our fitness room outside the studio plus the double panel window system from the control room to the iso room! I’m patiently awaiting for them to be installed, but we have to get things painted first so there they sit. They’re covered up with tarp now but this time of year is very dry so they will be just fine sitting there for a while as needed. They’re going to look great and perform even better. The sound reduction they provide between rooms is the best out there. We didn’t cut any corners on building this place.
We hired an interior designer to help us pick out our color palette for paint and have picked out the finished floor product. Hopefully in a few weeks I’ll have more to share with either painting complete, doors windows installed and/or flooring installed! The level of anxiety is high and we can’t wait to be able to produce music in this space. It can’t happen soon enough.
Until next time,
Jim
Like you said…at the 5 yard line… what a masterpiece this studio is going to be,
Cannot wait for the final reveal.
